Montana Rotary Gives
All Your Rotary Foundations Working in the World

Editor's Note
This publication is intended to be published quarterly, and the next issue is not due until October, but in life stuff happens that just can't wait that long.  In this case we need to get ready for Polio Plus Day and we (your Foundation Committee) have taken a huge step forward by recognizing the importance of Major Gifts in our district by providing much needed District Grant Funding to our Clubs as well as supporting our individual club's Global Grant and Scholarship Grant activities.
Past District Governor Rick Powers becomes Major Gifts Chair for District 5390
image
Past DG Rick has never been known for sitting around basking in the glory of his successes and immediately after his terms as District Governor ended, he stepped up and agreed to take on the task of helping Montana Rotarians who wish to make large and small commitments to The Rotary Foundation.

PDG Rick has long recognized the importance of Major Donors ($10,000.00 or more lifetime giving) to the economic health of Montana's Rotary Clubs in making sure that the annual District Grant, Global Grant and Scholarship Grant funding pool remains robust.  PDG Rick noted: "Navigating the major giving process with the Rotary Foundation can be intimidating and I want to help our District Rotarians through that process regardless of how large the gift or into which Rotary Pot the donation might wind up."

Going the Last Mile with Your Local Rotary Club on "World Polio Day October 24, 2024
image
This year October 24th is "World Polio Day". It's big day for Rotarians all over the world. Through their efforts and significant matching grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Rotary World Fund Rotary has just about wiped-out Polio in the World.

On July 27, 2024, our District (5390) and Rotary Zone (27) participated in "The Last Mile" zoom meeting to learn how to engage clubs in Celebrating World Polio Day and working at a club level to end Polio in the world.

We received inspiration from two great Presenters:

(1) Ina Pinkney, a polio survivor who shared her story and how she is virtually running the last mile with us to end this horrible disease, and

(2) Mike McGovern the Chair of the Rotary's PolioPlus Committee, giving us a progress report and outlining ways Rotary Clubs and individual Rotarians can get involved. A link to his presentation is attached below as well as a link to making donations directly to the Rotary PolioPlus campaign.

In addition, I was equally impressed and inspired by the remarks Bill Gates delivered on Rotary's philanthropic journey to eradicate polio in the world and how we at the Rotary Club level make such a huge impact.

Please take a minute to review Mike's presentation and be inspired by Bill Gates presentation.

The Carl Prinzing Memorial RYLA and Peace Park Fund a Huge Success So Far
image
In a little over one month the Carl Prinzing Memorial RYLA and Peace Park Fund raised $5,400.00 in cash and pledges. Margaret Parson, President of the Missoula Sunrise Rotary Club, (Carl's home club) and a longtime friend noted " Raising $5,4000.00 this quickly is not surprising knowing how committed Carl was to Rotary and how many Rotarians Carl knew and touched in his Life."
