Whew! After weeks of planning and three days of hard, hard work, we have recorded another successful Harvest Howl.
The good start on Thursday evening was crucial. By the end of Thursday, the tables were in place and clean, ready to furnish. The silent auction tables were all ready to load up with goodies.
On Friday a stalwart crew arranged centerpieces, set the tables, arranged the silent auction, hung paintings, handled last-minute decorations, and dozens of other tasks to have the space looking dazzling when the doors opened. And on Friday night it was all hands on deck, serving drinks, serving tables, serving food, selling 50-50 tickets, monitoring the silent auction, tending the green room, and much, much more.
That left clean-up and follow-up in the wee hours of Saturday morning and throughout the day. So much work! But the many hands involved made it a joyful, satisfying - and very successful! -- occasion. Thanks to all of you who helped.
Last Week at Rotary
Last week Jen Euell and Kelsey Mahoney, of the Women's Foundation of Montana, briefed us on the status of women in Montana. Montana women still face significant challenges in the areas of equal pay, equal opportunity, and unequal demands on their time. As Jen Euell, WFM Program Director (pictured) told us, the foundation is addressing those problems in several ways: attracting more women into STEM (science-technology-engineering-math) fields, teaching them financial literacy, and encouraging entrepreneurship.
Their latest initiative is Powerhouse Montana, an online mentorship service for women in leadership roles. If you'd like to be a mentor, check out www.PowerHouseMT.org or call 406.461.7695.
In the big news of the meeting, Glenn Lambert won the 50-50 pot, raking in a cool $231. We are trying to be magnanimous about it.
This Week in Rotary
This week our featured presenter is Todd Wilkinson, and his topic is "Grizzly Bear #399." With Harvest Howl behind us, we can relax and enjoy the hiatus before the holiday season. Join us at noon at the country club!
Rotarians Rock
After all the hard work, there's nothing like a party filled with Rotarians. Pictured are Rotarian Rebecca Bogden-Richards and her friends, enjoying the vibe at Harvest Howl 2015.
Milestones
On Friday Steve Malicott celebrates another birthday. Steve, may this year, your first in retirement, be restful and joyful.
Weekly Wisdom on Hard Work
A dream doesn’t become reality through magic. It takes sweat, determination and hard work.
Colin Powell
Without hard work, nothing grows but weeds.
Gordon B. Hinckley
The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. You can accomplish anything if you’re willing to pay the price.
