Early Edition!

We're publishing a day early this week to remind you all of tomorrow's service project. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29, Great Falls Rotary will be painting the Great Falls Rescue Mission Women’s Shelter.  We'll be painting the sleeping rooms and, if we get enough volunteers, we'll also paint the doors and  trim.

Join us at 317 Second Avenue South on the 29th!

Last Week at Rotary

For the 25th consecutive year, Great Falls Rotary honored local Scouts who joined the Eagle and Gold Badge ranks during the last year. As usual Bill Harp organized the event, which honored 32 Eagle Scouts and one Gold Scout, who logged more than 104,603 community service hours to earn their awards.  They join the ranks of 705 young men and women our club has honored through the years.

We also celebrated our February birthdays and Rotarian anniversaries. Rob Rezek passed around a paint can for donations for this Saturday service project at the Great Falls Rescue Mission Women's Shelter and raised over $300!

Next Week at Rotaryut

Such exciting presenters next week at Rotary! At noon on Tuesday, Trisha Gardner will tell us what's going on  at the City-County Health Department ... and with the spread of the Coronavirus, that presentation could be very timely!

At Tuesday's evening meeting (5:30), an equally interesting topic will be addressed by Troy Hallsell: the history of Great Falls' city parks!

Join us at either time - or both - at the country club!

Spotlight on ... John Huber

We can thank Judge Holter for the amiable presence of John Huber in our ranks. The Judge recruited John to join and ... well, who can say no to Judge Holter?

John is the Assistant Branch Manager/Financial Advisor at D.A. Davidson & Co., where he thrives on his interactions with fellow workers and the satisfaction of helping clients prosper. He is also active on the board of the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center.

A loyal Bobcat, John has the distinction of being MSU's 1987 Cribbage Champion.
He's a fan of all kinds of sports, but particularly enjoys golfing with his friends.

John is the fond husband of Mary Manning-Huber and the proud father of five children, ranging in age from 14-34. He also has five grandchildren!

We know John at Rotary as an always amiable, consummate professional. He embodies the four-way test: truthful, fair, kind to all, and happy to engage in the kinds of service that build good will and better friendship. Thanks for all you add to our club, John.

Milestones

March is coming in like a lion when it comes to Rotarian birthdays. On Monday, Carey Gray celebrates. On Tuesday, Michael Bowman takes the cake. And stock up on candles, folks, for Thursday, when Dave Crum, Lacey Gallagher, and Bill Knick all welcome a new year of life!

 Weekly Wisdom for March

It is the first mild day of March:
Each minute sweeter than before ...
The redbreast sings from the tall larch
That stands beside our door.

There is a blessing in the air,
Which seems a sense of joy to yield
To the bare trees, and mountains bare,
And grass in the green field ...

Love, no, a universal birth,
From heart to heart is stealing,
From earth to man, from man to earth:
- It is the hour of feeling ...

Some silent laws our hearts will make,
Which they shall long obey:
We for the year to come may take
Our temper from today.
