This Week at Rotary

This week we're in for a rare visit to the planet's least-visited continent when Beth Thomas tells us about her adventure in Antarctica. Join us at noon at the country club!

Also, our end-of-the-month social will be from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday (not Wednesday any more), March 29, at the Celtic Cowboy. Say goodbye to March with friends!

Last Week at Rotary

Most of us are aware of the good work of the American Red Cross, preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of disasters and emergencies. We picture them helping the victims of earthquakes, floods, famine and war. But last week Ben Wight told us about another ARC program, Services for the Armed Forces.

The Red Cross helps members of the military, veterans and their families prepare for, cope with, and respond to the challenges of military service. The program facilitates emergency communications, provides financial assistance for casualties and transportation, and through volunteers, provides home comforts and critical services on bases and in military hospitals around the world.

Through Services for the Armed Forces, the Red Cross has served more than 1 million military families since 9/11. With so many military families - and veterans - in our community, that's good to know!

Plan for District Conference Now!

Now is the time to register for the Rotary District 5390 Conference at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort on April 22-24. Corbin Ball, an acclaimed international speaker, consultant and writer, will kick off the conference Friday afternoon with two enjoyable and informative presentations with technology themes. District Governor Bill Spath will be presenting awards to outstanding clubs and Rotarians, and as usual the conference will also include the Club Showcase. This is our opportunity to show attendees the great projects that we’ve take on in the last year.

There will be plenty of fun as well! There's golf on Friday, time to enjoy the resort, and the Awards Banquet and Celebration. The highlight of the evening will be the induction of Malinda Shafman as our next District Governor.

To register for the convention, visit the District 5390 website (Montana Rotary) and click on District Conference under Upcoming Events on the right side of the home page.  When you reserve your room at Fairmont Hot Springs now, enter the Group ID of 15267 and the Password 268 to get the Rotary room rate.

A Special Invitation!

Hillary Rose, the Executive Director of the Great Falls Symphony, invited members of our club to attend the symphony and symphonic choir's performance of Carmina Burana, on Saturday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mansfield Theater.

Rotarians can take advantage of a discounted price of $20/ticket.  This includes a mixer before the concert, with complimentary drinks and appetizers.  If interested, contact Hillary directly at 406.453.4102 ext. 102 or hillaryrose@gfsymphony.org

Milestones

Birthday wishes go out this week to Darryl Stevens (Monday, Mar. 28) and Kevin Eckhardt (Thursday, Mar. 31). Best wishes to both of you for the best year ever!

Weekly Wisdom: Looking for the Best in People

I believe appreciation is a holy thing—that when we look for what’s best in a person we happen to be with at the moment, we’re doing what God does all the time. So in loving our neighbor and appreciating our neighbor, we’re participating in something sacred.
