There will be no Rotary meeting this Tuesday. However, we will be active at the country club! See related story below.

There will be no Rotary eBulletin next Saturday.

Leave Polio in Shreds!

In what has become a World Polio Day tradition for Rotary Club of Great Falls, we will raise funds to END POLIO NOW by hosting our SHRED TO END POLIO DAY.

Montana Business Archives has partnered with the Rotary Club of Great Falls to host the event this Tuesday, October 27th, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Meadow Lark Country Club parking lot.

Costs: $10 per box for the first two boxes, $15 for boxes 3-5, and $20 for each additional box.

In lieu of our weekly meeting, everyone is invited to get rid of the clutter of old papers in a safe manner and make a difference in the world. Box up sensitive financial records and personal papers, bring them to the Country Club, pay a nominal fee and your items will be secured and safely shredded onsite. Don’t worry about stapled items but do remove anything in plastic; CDs containing sensitive information may also be shred.

Spread the word to colleagues and friends: Help us to End Polio NOW! For more information call 406.788.8284.

Last Week at Rotary

Last week we were joined on Zoom by Janet Duffy and Louisa Libertelli-Dunn, who told us about the organize they oversee, Peace Place. Peace Place provides a special gift to two important groups. For children with special needs, it provides a safe space of acceptance and understanding. For parents and caregivers of special needs children, it provides the gift of time, a few hours of freedom from their responsibility so they can reflect, relax and take care of their own needs.

Janet Duffy is the new Executive Director of Peace Place - so new that her presentation to the club was scheduled for her second day on the job. She makes sure the mission of the organization is achieved by soliciting and accounting for funding from United Way, charitable giving in the community, and fundraising activities. One such activity is coming right up: Trunk Treats, a safe way for children to trick-or-treat on Sunday, Nov. 1, from 1 - 3 p.m. in the Montana Federal Credit Union parking lot at 15 Fourteenth Street South. Admission fee is $25/carload.

Louisa Libertelli-Dunn graduated from St. John's University with both bachelor's and master's degrees in special education and has thirty years of experience working with babies, children and adults with differences. She oversees two programs, a preschool program for children ages 0 -5 from 9 a.m. - noon and an after-school program for other special needs children. She has extensive experience with behavior plans and IEP preparation and implementation, but it's her true appreciation for children with special needs that stood out at last week's meeting.

She herself had a child with disabilities so she knows the challenges involved for parents. "At Peace Place," she said, "parents know their kids will not be judged and will be safe. Knowing their kids are in good hands for a few hours, parents can take a breath, take a shower, go to WalMart by themselves." Yes, she applies her expertise and love to ensure these kids have a good experience at Peace Place, she acknowledged, "but I'm not the star - the kids are!"

We are so fortunate to have such strong and important programming in our community!

Meet Our Rotary International President!

District 5390 has been invited to participate in a Zoom presentation and Q&A session with Rotary International President Holger Knaack on Sunday, Nov. 1, at noon.  The District is using this fantastic opportunity to raise funds for our Polio Plus campaign.  Also joining us is a representative from the Bill and Malinda Gates Foundation.

Do you know that your $25 donation turns into $75 with the Gates 2-for-1 match to the End Polio Now Campaign?  This will pay for 38 children to be vaccinated!  Please consider joining your fellow District 5390 Rotarians in this worthy effort to continue our fight against Polio.
