Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! Find out who our upcoming speakers are and what we covered during the last weekly meeting.
This Week at Rotary
Tuesday meeting Rotarian Susie McIntyre presented an overview of the current situation our Great Falls Public Library is facing in staffing and infrastructure. After her portion of the presentation we heard from Molly Beck, the Ballot Initiative Committee Chair on the importance of funding for the Library by supporting the Mill Levy.
The Board voted to approve a request by a local Cub Scout Troop to assume responsibilities as the Charter Organization/sponsor for the Troop. This was not a decision made in haste, but rather, involved a great deal of conversation and research over the past few weeks, including consideration of comments from several Club members (some offered as recently as today.) The Board is mindful that some Club members expressed concerns about taking this step. Those concerns were not taken lightly. Nevertheless, weighing both the pros and cons, the Board decided to approve the request, acknowledging the importance of working with the youth in our community.
Club member Aaron Weissman has agreed to serve as the Charter Organization Representative (COR) for this Troop. Other Club members have also offered to assist with the organizational efforts. The Board appreciates these anticipated contributions.
In the coming weeks, the Board will have additional information about the process of becoming a Charter Organization. If you have any questions at any time about this decision or the process going forward, please feel free to contact any of the Board members.
