Last week's speaker
Chelle Fried enlightened us with the history of Easter Seals/Goodwill Industries. While most of us remember the telethons, a few did not know one of the Great Falls fundraisers featured Greyhound racing. Novel idea? You bet! You are invited to the 75th Anniversary Open House later this month.
Owen Robinson was our featured Rotarian this week. Owen's story of joining Rotary was a bit different from past members who were asked to join. In Owen's case, he was told by his father to join! Long story short: in the early days of Rotary, members were selected by business classification and only one person form each type of business could join. His father and brother joined Kiwanis and Lions, and Owen was told to join Rotary. Owen is proud of his long standing membership and very proud that once Rotary realized what an injustice it was not be include women...our club inducted 16 business women in one meeting! The photo inset is o penny postcards that were sent to members who missed two meetings in a row. Many today think that's still a good idea to do.today. WHY not invite someone you know to Rotary next week? Next week we will hear from Rina Fontana on how the voting process works in Cascade Co.
