Coming Up This Week

This week Jamie Marshall, who leads the advocacy group Kids Education YES! (KEY), will bring members up to date on the state of our local public schools. Since the school board voted last week to go to the voters for a levy in the spring, the topic will be a timely introduction to that decision. Join us at noon at the country club!

Also, start planning for the December social. It will be December 19, starting at 5:30 at the country club. A wonderful way to ring in the holidays!

Last Week at Rotary

"Every Rotarian Every Year" pretty much says it all, and last week at noon Megan Connors and Keith Tokerud were on hand to explain the hows and whys of fulfilling this expectation for supporting  Rotary International.

Keith chairs our Rotary International Committee, which consists of Shim Abbasi, Chuck Jennings, Tom Jacobson, and Dave Thomas. Keith emphasized that the contribution is a "two-fer": It not only goes toward eradicating polio, but also funds grants that we can apply for to take on local projects. Make that a "three-fer":  Donations, including planned giving, are tax-deductible. Currently, our committee is working on a future international project for either education or women and children's health in Pakistan or Ethiopia. Securing a grant would be crucial to making their plan a reality.

Megan got down to the nuts and bolts of giving, showing us in 3 minutes how to go to Rotary.org and make a donation with a few quick clicks.

Have you donated yet?

Here's to You, Mr. Robinson!

When President Yturri updated the membership recently on the construction plans for the bridge to Camp Rotary, she included a request for donations to close the $1,250 gap between the funds we have secured and the projected cost. She didn't expect the immediate and complete response she got within days.

Owen Robinson presented Camp Rotary Foundation stalwart grant-writer Sheila Rice with a check for $5,250 at last week's noon meeting. That not only closes the gap, but ensures that we'll have the cushion we need for any speed bumps ahead. Thank you, Owen, for your generosity!

Spotlight on ... Kimberley Stull

With her warm smile and boundless energy, it is difficult to think of a more perfect job for Kimberley Richter Stull than helping families get the resources they need for their children to thrive. As Executive Director of Family Connections, Kim does just that - not only in Great Falls but in the surrounding counties. She finds it fulfilling to help children have successful futures and initially joined Rotary to help create awareness about her work. During her 5+ years as a member, she has enjoyed the new friendships Rotary has given her personally.

Married to Mike Stull, she has no shortage of men in her life, with twin sons Luke and Logan, age 7; Keegan, 11; Carter, 13; and Michael, 32. She loves the outdoors, especially water sports, so living on the Missouri just outside of Ulm checks all those boxes and more. "It's so quiet there," she says and adds, "It's a great place to raise my boys!" All about family, that one. Her perspectives and experience are invaluable to our club !

Milestones

Happy birthday tomorrow to past president Colin Lee and on Friday to David Cameron and Ian Davidson. Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year!
