This Week in Rotary

This week we will elect new officers to ensure a smooth succession in our leadership. Your board is nominating Dean Boyle for President-Elect to succeed Colin Lee. Additionally, the board nominates Cari Yturri for President-Elect Nominee. Join us at noon at the country club to conclude this important business.

Rotarians ... Are Party Animals

When Rotarian Bob Norbie sent out the oh-so-secret email inviting community members to surprise Bob Oakland on his 90th birthday, Rotarians showed up in force!

Norbie emceed the "flash mob" that filled the City Motors showroom last Monday. Art Taft created and performed a special song for the event, and Mary Moe added sparkle with her trademark baton.

Ian and Nancy Davidson were on hand to wish Bob well, as were Beth and Gaines McFadden. Former competitor Cari Yturri joined in the singing and laughter.

Special Olympics athletes performed a wonderful Blues Brothers choreography. A good time was had by all ... even Bob, who endured all the attention with his usual humble grace.

Last Week at Rotary

Last week we enjoyed another wonderful holiday luncheon, entertained this year by the string orchestra from East Middle School. It was fun to welcome so many "significant others" in the lives of fellow Rotarians at this festive event.

Milestones

Happy birthday today to Ken Munski and on Saturday to Paul Gorsuch. Thanks for all you do for Rotary Club of Great Falls!

Weekly Wisdom: the Holiday Spirit

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas;
Soon the bells will start,
And the thing that will make them ring
Is the carol that you sing right within your heart.
Meredith Willson

Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.

Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!
Hamilton Wright Mabie

Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.

Probably the reason we all go so haywire during the holidays, with the endless unrestrained and often silly buying of gifts, is that we don’t quite know how to put our love into words.
