Rotary Club of Great Falls
Rotary Club of Great Falls, the second Rotary Club to be founded in the State of Montana in 1916, meets each Tuesday at noon at the Meadow Lark Country Club. Each Rotary Club around the world bases their club activities around Four Avenues of Service: Club, Community, Vocational, and International Service.
Highlighted below are the Service Projects currently being pursued by the nearly 100 members of Rotary Club of Great Falls Membership includes young professionals, thriving career people, as well as retirees, both men and women.
Over the past 93 years, the Rotary Club of Great Falls has made the maintenance, support and development of Camp Rotary, a rustic mountain camp near Neihart, their major service project. Camp Rotary has provided an environment of camaraderie, healing, and maturing through the Belt Mountain fresh-air-camp experience for thousands of young Montanans. Camp Rotary continues to be upgraded and refurbished based on the input from its users.
A second Service Project for the club is to sponsor Harvest Howl for Camp Rotary, a successful fundraiser which has earned over $100,000 for the camp.
For the past several years the Rotary Club of Great Falls has sponsored and funded Great Falls school students for a week at the Rotary Youth Leadership summer camp. There, soon-to-be-sophomore students, learn to develop the leadership skills of communication, listening, team-work and decision making.
Annually Club Members participate in Group Study Exchange with Rotarians from other countries visiting Montana for cultural exchange. Long-lasting friendships and life-changing experiences have occurred during these visits.
Each year Rotary Club of Great Falls gives back to the community in many ways; by ringing bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign and by honoring local Eagle and Gold Scouts with a luncheon ceremony and recognition.
Currently club members are cleaning their offices, garages, basements, and storage sheds with the purpose of donating recyclable items to Great Falls Rotary Recycle for PolioPlus at Pacific Recycling, 1624 12 Ave North. Proceeds from these donations will be sent to The Rotary Foundation to match the $100 million Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Challenge Grant for the eradication of polio worldwide.
